Rajab Butt issues apology for ‘inappropriate’ child abuse joke after backlash

The clip, which recently resurfaced online, showed Butt making an insensitive joke involving child sexual abuse while commenting on Zaid Ali’s facial expression. The remarks sparked criticism on social media, with several digital creators sharing and discussing the clip.Following the severe backlash from celebrities and public, Butt took to his Instagram Story to apologize for his comments.

“Over the past few days, a video of mine has been circulating in which I said something that was extremely inappropriate and regardless of my intentions or the situation at the time, completely below the belt. A joke like that is never, ever okay,” he wrote.The YouTuber continued, “Jokes like these have unfortunately been normalised in our society, particularly in gatherings among boys, but that does not and will never make them acceptable. Knowing how grave and painful the situation in our country is when it comes to this particular issue, I should have been more sensitive. Even beyond that, it is something that should never have been made a joke about in the first place.”

“From the bottom of my heart, I apologise to everyone whose sentiments I have hurt, whose traumas I may have triggered and who I have made uncomfortable through my words,” he added.

Butt also said that although the video was old, its age did not excuse what he had said. The content creator added that he is trying to learn from the incident and become more responsible about the things he says publicly.He also shared the apology in Urdu on his Instagram Stories, reiterating his regret over the controversial remarks.
