Sharjah (NNI) In a crucial group stage match of the DP World ILT20, Desert Vipers defeated Sharjah Warriors by five wickets, not only ending their playoff chances but also becoming the first team in the history of the tournament to achieve eight wins in the group stage.
In the match played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah Warriors scored 140 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Johnson Charles stood out with 43 runs, while James Reeve scored 22 and Ryan Burrell scored 21 not out. Naseem Shah bowled well for Desert Vipers, taking 3 wickets for 35 runs while Qais Ahmed dismissed 2 players. Chasing the target, Desert Vipers faced difficulties in the beginning and the score had fallen for 2 wickets for 28 runs in the powerplay, however, Max Holden and captain Sam Curran batted responsibly and took control of the innings.

For Sharjah Warriors, Harmeet Singh tried to create pressure by taking 3 wickets for 29 runs, however, an unbeaten partnership of 47 runs between Hassan Nawaz and Max Holden gave Desert Vipers victory in 19.3 overs.
