Kartik Aaryan
Mumbai(NNI) A controversy has erupted over the song Saat Samudra Paar from Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan and actress Ananya Panday’s film To Meri Mein Tera, Main Tera To Meri. According to Indian media reports, the film To Meri Mein Tera, Main Tera To Meri was released in cinemas on December 25, 2025. Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday’s film had only started its morning shows in major cinemas in India when it became a subject of controversy. The family of famous lyricist Anand Bakshi has slammed the filmmakers for giving wrong songwriting credit in the remix version of the song Saat Samudra Paar included in the film.
The original song Saat Samudra Paar was part of the 1992 film Vishwatama, which was written by Anand Bakshi, its music was composed by Viju Shah, while it was sung by Sadhana Sargam and Udit Narayan. Even after three decades, this song is still one of the most popular songs today. Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday’s new film included a remix version of the song sung by Karan Navneet and saw Karan Navneet dancing with the famous dance group Quick Style. The film’s end credits listed singer Karan Navneet as a lyricist along with Anand Bakshi, which led to a controversy. The famous lyricist’s son and screenwriter Rakesh Anand Bakshi came down heavily on the filmmakers, saying that adding just one or two lines to an original song does not entitle someone to be a co-lyricist. In a message on Instagram, he urged publishers to clearly differentiate between additional work and original work, just like is done for music arrangements on streaming platforms. Rakesh Anand Bakshi insisted that such a change in credits should not diminish the importance of the services of the original writers.
