Maryam Nawaz
Lahore (NNI) A contempt of court petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court against Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Information and Culture Minister Uzma Bukhari. Petitioner Munir Ahmed, through Advocate Azhar Siddique, took the stand in the petition filed that critical statements on court order related to Punjab Property Ownership Act fall under the category of contempt of court, and the reputation of the judiciary was affected by the statements on the suspension of the property law.
The petition further stated that the statements of the Punjab Chief Minister tried to make the court controversial, declaring the court order in favor of the land mafia is a serious allegation, and giving political color to the Lahore High Court order is an illegal act. The petitioner said that the statements of high-ranking officials can affect the judicial process, so Maryam Nawaz and Uzma Bukhari are being held in contempt. The court should issue a show cause notice, and the Lahore High Court should take contempt of court action against Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Uzma Bukhari.
